Rab Wilson (New Cumnock, 1960) publiceerde onlangs een versie van de Rubáiyát in 'Scots'.
"My vision was to use a simple language that ordinary folk would understand without loosing any of the magic, mysticism, wonder and profundity of the original".
Wilson baseerde zich voor zijn bewerking op de letterlijke vertaling van Avery en Heath-Stubbs.

Een voorbeeld in het 'Scots':
Ah met an auld boy ootside Victoria Wine,
Ah asked him if he'd heard ony news.
He said, 'here, hae a slug o this -
The news is aa the same.'

Bij Avery en Heath Stubbs luidt dit kwatrijn:
I saw an old man in the wine shop,
I said, 'Have you any news of those who have gone?'
He replied, 'Take some wine, because, like us, many have gone, none has come back.'
